after such mishaps at the beginning of the trip, and after 30 hours of travel, we just walked into the Siam@Siam hotel in Bangkok. We felt adventurous and decided to navigate the bangkok metro from the Airport to the hotel. When we got to the final metro exit our senses took a bit of a shock. Nestor said it was like walking into the middle of downtown Caracas. Thousands of street vendors, food carts with some quite exotic items on the grill, a cop puking by the side of the road who then decided to follow us for a bit, and about a dozen up and down pedestrian overpasses, Ok, maybe just about 3 overpasses but try doing that while carrying 40lbs bags! …and then we magically found the hotel. It was our first encounter with Thai luxury. The lobby was spectacular. The hall leading to our room looked like a contemporary art gallery, and our room… well, without doubt, one of the most uniquely beautiful rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Each room was uniquely decorated with just the right combination of traditional thai touches and five star luxury. Pictures to come. We are now off to bed. It’s midnight tuesday night here, about 13 hours ahead of most of you.
