Badwater Basin in Death Valley NP is the lowest point of elevation in the United States; and its also the starting line for the Badwater Ultramarathon, a 135-mile race from Badwater (282 feet below sea level) to Mt. Whitney (8360 feet above sea level). If you look closely in the bottom picture, you can see Yolanda running; 2 minutes at 120 degrees = exhausting, imagine 135 miles!
