Mediterranean Cruise – Day 8: Athens, Greece.

We docked in Piraeus, which is about 30 minutes outside of Athens and in itself is a cute port town with lots of cafes and markets. Athens was bustling! So much traffic, so many people. Our tour bus drove us to various historical sites and then we had a stop at the Olympic Stadium (the 1st modern Olympics (including the first official Marathon!) were held there in 1896) and the Acropolis, and then had some time to spend on our own in Plaka – the old district of Athens. Overall, Athens is definitely a place to return to and visit more some day.
